Clarke Central's Derrick Smalls is area's most outstanding wrestler

Clarke Central senior Derrick Smalls took the area championship in 119-pound weight class and brought home the tournament�s outstanding wrestler honors Saturday in Region 8-AAAA wrestling.

Clarke Central junior Devante Upshaw also took home area champ honors in the 112-pound weight class.

As a team, the Gladiators finished in fourth place with a score of 161, being beat out for third by half of a point. Rockdale County took first, with Loganville and Heritage behind them.

Gladiators Kadeem Combs (135 pounds) and Prince Hudson (171) both took runner-up honors. Andrew Giegerich (103) and Anferknee Hanson (145) finished third in their weight classes.
